About to Be Executed by Clone Troopers Following Order 66
Having been captured by Ahsoka and held by Republic forces, Maul continues to be held in the Mandalorian Jedi-containment chamber as two clone troopers arrive to his cell with blasters raised in the Star Wars The Clone Wars episode, “Shattered”, preparing to execute him following the issuing of Order 66…when Ahsoka shows up and knocks them out.

Ahsoka then unlocks the chamber, allowing Maul to fall down to the ground. As she is freeing Maul from the chamber, Ahsoka says, “Don’t make me regret this.”
Maul: “You…{cough}…you survived!”
Ahsoka: “Is this your doing? Choose your words carefully.”
Maul: “No, no. It was not my doing. I do not know what has occurred, but, surely, you have felt it – the voices crying out, the death.”
Ahsoka: “The clones turned against me, even Rex. I don’t know why; they just suddenly weren’t themselves.”
Maul laughs: “Brilliant! Brilliant! I was not privy to my master’s plan, but now – now, I see it. He turned the Jedi’s own army against them.”

Maul senses the voices crying out and the death and knows that it’s due to Darth Sidious’ plans, even though he was unaware of this part of the plan, unlike when he is found by Savage Oppress and is aware of the planning of the Clone Wars (“Ah, yes. So it began, without me”).

Maul: “Well, you’ve done the right thing by coming to me; only together can we survive this. Now, if you will follow my lead-”
Ahsoka: “You don’t understand: I’m not here to team up with you. I need a diversion and you’re it. Now go cause some chaos – it’s what you’re good at.”
Maul: “Uh…care to give me a fighting chance?”
Ahsoka: “I’m not rooting for you. Now get going.”

It is amusing to see Maul seeking to step into either a leadership role here or as someone who would be able to help get her out, yet Ahsoka has no intention of pairing up with Maul, as she is confident in her abilities to escape without teaming up with him.

Maul’s Epic Hallway Scene
With Maul’s requesting a lightsaber from Ahsoka for “a fighting chance”, one would have thought Maul would struggle to make it off of the Republic cruiser alive, yet we had seen him Force-manipulate Bo-Katan’s blaster shots in the Mandalorian throne room, so he might have a chance, right?

Maul then proceeds to have an epic hallway scene, perhaps more epic than Darth Vader’s incredible hallway scene at the end of Rogue One, as Maul dodges blaster shots, uses wall panels from the corridor to both harm clone troopers, as well as using them for shields against the blaster shots, and even hurling one of them horizontally, chopping clone troopers dead. He wreaks so much havoc against the clone troopers that they flee away from him. Yet, he is able to procure a communicator device from the wrist of one of the clone troopers whose arm was chopped off by one of the doors, as Maul had Force-held him there specifically for that purpose. Maul hears that they are trying to direct him away from the main hangar.

What’s Next?
In the next installment of the Darth Maul project, Maul continues to provide a distraction for Ahsoka in the final episode of Star Wars The Clone Wars.
