Leia, Princess of Alderaan
Having read Leia, Princess of Alderaan a while back, I recently handed the book off to my oldest daughter, who just finished reading it. So, while my daughter is not super-talkative on this video where we discuss this book, I hope it is helpful.
Leia, Princess of Alderaan takes place around the 16th birthday of Princess Leia and focusses on her both sort of coming-of-age story, but also her being dissatisfied with the way things are in the galaxy and seeking to try to fix things, causing her to discover that her [adoptive] parents are part of the rebellion, themselves. It is also an introduction to Amilyn Holdo, as well as a fascinating and deeply intriguing scene involving Quarsh Panaka. In the course of the book, we see Leia experience the Force, as well as some teenage romantic interest for a boy. We also read of Tarkin’s interactions with Leia, which are chilling to read, considering their interactions in A New Hope.
Written as a young adult novel, this book is readable not only for adults, but teenagers, as well. It’s a solid book about our favorite Star Wars princess.
