Maul Convinces Ezra to Help Him Get the Sith Holocron from the Sith Temple on Malachor

Maul tells Ezra one must think like a Sith to open a Sith holocron

After Ezra Bridger finds Maul on Malachor and Maul leads Ezra to the Sith temple on Malachor in the first part of the season two finale of Star Wars Rebels, “Twilight of the Apprentice”, a conversation takes place wherein Kanan Jarrus and Ahsoka Tano have the Eighth Brother in custody, with Kanan asking this inquisitor, “You’re the fourth Inquisitor we’ve seen. How many are there?”
Eighth Brother Inquisitor: “More than enough for the two of you. Nothing can save you.”
Kanan: “Why are you on Malachor?”
Eighth Brother: “Hunting.”
Ahsoka Tano: “But you were not expecting us. Who are you after?”
Eighth Brother, chuckling: “A shadow.”

A Sith Holocron
Maul: “Behold: the key.”
Ezra: “It’s a holocron.”
Maul: “You know of them?”
Ezra: “Yeah. My master has one, but it’s different.”
Maul: “Because this is a Sith holocron, one that holds all their secrets.”
Ezra: “Well, how do we get to it?”
Maul: “It is a test. Only someone with the courage to risk oblivion is worthy to claim it.”

A Leap of Faith & Trust
Ezra: “Throw me. Yeah, throw me. I’ll jump, and then you use the Force to throw me. My master and I do it all the time. Well, a few times anyway. Look, we can do this.”

Ezra jumps, Maul Force-pushes him far enough to land on the platform containing the Sith holocron.

Grabbing the Sith Holocron…And Its Consequences
Ezra approaches the Sith holocron and then grabs it. But then the roof begins crumbling.

Then some electricity rumbles down, striking the container where the Sith holocron was positioned, causing that micro-platform to lift up, lifting Ezra with it.

As it continues elevating, Maul yells out to Ezra, “Jump!”
Ezra responds, “I won’t make it!”
Maul yells back, “Ezra!”
Ezra answers, “I…I can’t!
Maul: “Trust me!”

Ezra jumps from the platform that, by now, is really, really quite high and he falls, falls, and then Maul Force-catches him. As Maul is Force-pulling Ezra up from potentially falling into the deep abyss, and as Ezra leads with the hand holding the Sith holocron, it looks like Maul could grab the Sith holocron and let Ezra fall away to his certain death…yet Maul hauls Ezra up onto the ledge.
Secure with the Sith Holocron
While they are busy panting and catching their breath, Maul tells Ezra, “There was nothing to fear. You were wise to trust me.”
Ezra then looks at the Sith holocron.
Opening the Sith Holocron

As they are walking towards the outside of the Sith temple, Ezra inquires of Maul, “How do you open this?”
Maul: “One must be a Sith. Or think like one. But it has…other uses. Give it to me. I will show you.”
Ezra hands off the Sith holocron to Maul and Maul places it in a triangular crevice, where it fits nicely and triggers a door to open, whereupon Maul informs Ezra, “Sith holocrons are keys that can open many doors.”
Maul then takes the Sith holocron and hands it back to Ezra.
