The recently released Star Wars R2-D2 is Lost! by Disney-Lucasfilm Press shows C-3P0 and R2-D2 returning to the forest moon of Endor to re-connect with Ewoks, along with BB-8.
Written by Caitlin Kennedy and illustrated by Brian Kesinger, Star Wars R2-D2 is Lost! begins with C-3P0 describing to BB-8 what’s going on: “They think I am some sort of god – though it is against my programming to impersonate my deity.” However, clearly, R2-D2 is upset at all of this attention C-3P0 is receiving, “Watch your language, R2. I can’t help it if they want to throw a banquet in my honor.” And, apparently, as C-3P0 tells BB-8, “The Ewoks want to hear all about my latest heroic adventures.”
Upon this, R2-D2 is practically rolling his droid eyes, as we read that C-3P0 responds to him, “Boring?! How dare you say such a thing!” At that, R2-D2 rolls off into the forest to get away from C-3P0, as he seems to have been upset with no attention being poured upon him.
While off in the forest, he encounters a young, seemingly lost Ewok child, although R2-D2 becomes lost with him. They then experience various activities in the forest, which can be fun to have kids describe to you while you read the rest of the book.
I’ll spare you what eventually happens in the book, but it’s a cute book to read with young children 🙂
